The aim of this one-day course is to equip staff that wish to work as Front Of Stage Pit Team members with the skills and knowledge necessary to ensure their personal safety and provide maximum standards of safety for members of the public.

The course covers:
Mandatory Unit 1: Front of Stage Pit Barrier Operations
a) the history of the front of stage barrier;
b) reasons for having a front of stage barrier;
c) different types of barriers and their layouts;
d) moshing and crowd surfing; e) roles and responsibilities of the Pit team;
f) dealing with incidents and emergencies and f) physical techniques for rescuing people from the crowd
Assessment Method: Portfolio of evidence and practical demonstration/assignment
Learning outcomes 1 and 2 must be assessed via knowledge based assessment, whilst learning outcomes 3 and 4 can be assessed via simulated practical demonstration
Any public/ stadia shows and events security positions.
Salary: £7-£8 per hour
Progression routes could include:
• Employment: progress to a more senior position within the live events industry, e.g. supervisor; or
• Education: continue learning with a higher level qualification (level 3) or broaden expertise within the live event industry, e.g. security and intervention.
