There are CCTV operator jobs monitoring a wide range of premises or locations, for instance: council or government offices schools, colleges and universities big shops or shopping malls offices, factories and commercial premises airports, ports, train stations and roads town centres and car parks hospitals hotels and housing complexes sporting venues.

Large organisations will employ several CCTV operators, for example a large local council may have a team of 10 or more working for them. That means there’s potential for the right candidates to move into supervisory and management roles and increase their earnings accordingly.

Another big advantage of getting your CCTV operator license is that it means you can also work in other security industry roles without needing further training or licensing: security guard key holder non front-line roles in any job needing an SIA licence (eg managing door supervisors).

CCTV operator salaries start at around £14,000 a year outside London/. around £3-4,000 more in London.

Typical hourly rates around £8 hour, with the potential for night and holiday bonuses as well.
