Conflict Avoidance Training (For the Lone Worker)

The aim of the course is to provide transferable skills to deal with potential conflict situations associated with working alone. Participants learn how to take steps to mitigate personal safety risks and to develop confidence when dealing with conflict and customer aggression. A combination of activities will support Lone Workers to feel confident, self-reliant and more in control when faced with conflict. This course covers a significant aspect of the ‘Duty of Care’ of employers to ensure employees are equipped with a robust personal safety strategy to stay safe while carrying out their daily activities.

What Will I Learn On The Course?

Explore the conflict risks associated with lone working and learn practical resolution skills to manage personal safety; Learn effective de-escalation techniques; Apply positive communication in conflict situations with confidence; Evaluate and report to learn from an incident;

NLP communication systems will deliver an insight into personal preferences and respecting cultural differences when dealing with a variety of people or situations.

A comprehensive workbook to accompany the course with reference information for each section will support learning.

How Will I Get Assessed?

No formal assessment

The course will include a variety of methodology to encourage participation and practical exercises to embed the knowledge, skills and attitude required to ensure personal safety is at the forefront of any activity undertaken by your lone workers.

Scenario based exercises with reality practice will offer an opportunity to demonstrate the skills learned in a safe supportive environment, while discussions and self awareness profiling will establish communication styles for individual development plans.
