This one-day course is designed to help an organisation to meet its duties under current fire safety legislation by providing employees with essential knowledge about fire safety, helping them to understand how to prevent a fire from starting as well as what actions to take if a fire does break out.

To achieve the IQ Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (QCF) learners must achieve 1 credit from the single mandatory unit.
• Fire Safety Awareness
All assessment criteria in this qualification are assessed by portfolio, internally set and marked and externally quality assured by IQ.
As an additional resource package, IQ offers multiple choice question papers and mark schemes for this qualification, which can be used as a classroom tool.
Designed for: employees who hope to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.)
Security Guard/Door Supervisor – Duties include “Detect and prevent fire, flood, damage and theft” – £25,000 a year
Learners who achieve this qualification can progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace .
They can also progress to the Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles.
